balabs collaborations

Bring your question. We’ll build the experiment together.

We build experiments on balabs together with researchers, teachers, journalists, brands and developers. Data is never sold, results are published as they come out, and participants stay anonymous.

Which desk are you coming from?

Five different starting points, the same principles. Pick the one closest to you.

Your study, in thousands of hands.

Let’s turn a classic study, or your own paradigm, into an experiment thousands of people can take part in within seconds.

  1. A balabs adaptation of a study, with a method card, exclusion criteria and references.
  2. Adding a condition to an existing experiment or growing its sample.
  3. Using the open data in a course, thesis or paper, with help on citation and method.

balabs is not an ethics board. For studies that need approval, we review your board’s documents together.

Lessons with your class’s own data.

Teach psychology, statistics or critical thinking with your class’s own data.

  1. A class experiment session: everyone joins with one link, plays the same experiment, and the results appear on the board.
  2. A lesson pack: the experiment, discussion questions and the original paper to read.
  3. A live workshop for a school or campus.

Sessions are free and need no sign-up; students don’t have to give a name or email.

Stories people take part in, not just read.

Let’s build a story your readers or viewers take part in, not just read.

  1. An experiment embedded in a story or article: readers take part and compare their answer with the crowd.
  2. Numbers on a finding, with a short, sourced explanation.
  3. A live experiment for a video, stream or podcast.

The code is ready under “Publish on your site” on every experiment page; write to us if you want a custom setup.

Curious, and honest.

Let’s bring out the curious side of behavioral science together, without compromising scientific honesty.

  1. Supporting an experiment: a “supported by …” line appears under it; the content and the results stay with us.
  2. A hands-on workshop for your team on decision making and biases.
  3. A custom experiment built around your question, published whatever the result.

No ads, product placement or leading questions go inside an experiment.

The lab grows together.

A new experiment idea, a translation or a more accessible interface: the lab grows together.

  1. Developing the idea and prototype of a new experiment together.
  2. Building your own tool with the embed code, oEmbed and open data.
  3. Translation, color vision and accessibility improvements.

Your contribution is credited by name in the experiment or release notes (if you like).

Have something else in mind? An exhibition, a game, a hackathon… Write to us; if it fits, we’ll find a way together.

From idea to launch.

Who does what at each step is clear from the start.

  1. You

    Write

Fill in the form below. It takes two minutes; just describe your idea in your own words.

  2. balabs

    Talk

We read your request and reply by email. If needed, we settle the scope in a short video call.

  3. Together

    Design

We write the method card, the screens and what we measure together. You try it before it goes live.

  4. Together

    Launch

The experiment or session goes live; the results, the data and shareable findings become our shared output.

Principles

Six lines that never change, whatever the collaboration.

Paid or free, big or small; they are not up for negotiation.

  1. §1

    Data is never sold.

Participant data is never sold or shared at the individual level in any collaboration. Everything shared is anonymous and aggregate.

  2. §2

Results are published as they come out.

Nobody has to like a result. In supported or joint experiments too, the result is published as it comes out.

  3. §3

    Participants stay anonymous.

Taking part needs no sign-up; we don’t ask for names, emails or demographics. Open data has no identities and no exact times.

  4. §4

Ads never go inside the experiment.

Support is credited only in one line under the experiment. Questions, options and feedback stay neutral.

  5. §5

    The method is open.

How each experiment was adapted, what it measures and its limitations are public on its method card.

  6. §6

Scope is written down up front.

Paid or free, every collaboration sets out in writing, up front, who does what and when.

FAQ.

Can I publish my own experiment on balabs?

Yes, if it builds on a published study and can be done in a browser in a few minutes. We adapt it together and credit you and your study on the method card.

Who can access the data?

Once an experiment has enough real participation, its anonymous data is published openly (CC BY 4.0). In joint studies, raw rows are shared under the same anonymity rules; identifying information is never given out.

Is it paid?

It depends on the scope. Class sessions, open data and the embed code are free for everyone. For work that takes real effort, we agree on terms in the first conversation.

Can you guarantee a number of participants?

No. People come to balabs of their own accord; we can’t promise a number or a specific audience. You can boost participation yourself by running a session with your own audience.

Can we work in English?

Yes. balabs runs in Turkish and English; experiments and result screens work in both.

How long does it take?

A session with existing experiments can be set up right away. A new adaptation or a custom experiment takes longer because it needs design and testing; we plan the timeline together in the first conversation.

Start with one sentence.

We’ll talk through the rest. Four short steps, two minutes.
